saturday night fever….

Published by wurdburd under writing Edit This

Always filled with anticipation, isn’t it? Saturday night.

A really odd thing happened a few weeks ago when I met up with friends, some of whom I had not seen for a long long time, a couple of others who are closer - probably as we know more secrets then each of us might dare to tell. Even if pushed, sat in a comfy chair and face to face with a man in uniform - Enough of that…….

Still, writing Shoes in November last didn’t leave a lot of room for research, and that’s a shame because the research would have got me a few more Saturday nights out with friends and wine.

We were sat catching up in a bar earlyish on a Saturday in June, and the feeling came upon me that I had been there before, though for various reasons this was not possible. After a while I was glancing round, looking for people I was expecting to see, when it occurred to me that those faces I thought I might see were just characters from my book. Everything fitted and I could have been another person in the plot. I hope that means that what I have written is realistic and readers will find something that is significant to them to be able to relate to.

Don’t know why I have left it so long to do, because I am trying to edit now when everything else has got so hectic. Maybe that is the trick….

It all comes rushing back to me…………

Published by wurdburd under writing Edit This

Is it a sign of a good story that I am getting caught up and forgetting to edit too? I hope so…..Two more chapters edited so far this evening, and soon I will be casting my evil eye out for a reader to spot things that are probably glaringly obvious but that I have missed. My advice? Duck!!

No really, a duck. Right there in front of me, feathers, bill, the works. Except maybe the Hoi Sin sauce and pancakes…………..

Meanwhile, back to it…..

Hello again

Published by wurdburd under writing Edit This

Okay so i have not been as forthcoming as I wanted to be, but herein starts a new chapter. Chapter Eighteen I believe. Now I am fully aware that you don’t start anything at Chapter 18, but anyone who has read any of my previous entries may have guessed that maybe I am a little less than conventional. At least I hope to be.

So what have I done since my last post? Ummmm, a few flash fiction pieces, a couple of poems, a story for my six year old son, and a series of stories about a boy and an earthworm. Oh and some editing for the big book - The Truth About Shoes.

Which brings me back to Chapter 18…..
