Oh this is too funny. I have always had a knack for math myself, and when I help my high school students with their algebra, they always look at me quizzically and say "but you're an English teacher."

Just 'cause I can do it doesn't mean I like it ;) I'll stick to writing about characters with jobs I'd be willing to do.

I know the feelin. My children sniff and snigger whenever I offer to help them with maths but would sit at my feet for their English lessons! Love your write up and I think you are a fun writer. Makes me smile all the time.

Absolutely. You finally get the needed accessory sometimes, jackets and sweaters. A character can throw on a light one easily, it has pockets for them to keep plot items and red herrings in (and thus easily lose or forget). Also, the cold leads to windows open, which can create plot points, lack of air or heat, leaves falling and other wonderful imagery. For writing, autumn is wonderful.

Planning to talk to a girl is normal. Procrastinating is not if it simply putting it off. Taking forever (read: too long) and missing their window of opportunity is the modus operendi of the male. If you want to write your character realistically, have them plan and work towards it then ask. If you want to move your story along, "fast-time" the planning with a few simple remarks then have him ask.

Alternatively, if the character is trying a fast and loose kind of thing in life, he may just ask before he can think it through.

I understand your hesitance. When you write it, it feels like it becomes real. I procrastinate for the same reason. I'm doing it right now. But it's okay when it becomes reality. You, the writer, with the hand of god, can bend reality to your will if you should change your mind later. Now get writing... and I will too.

You could let someone else read it, and ask them where or about what they would like to see more? If you get similar answers from a few people, you'll know those are things you could pay more attention to, and thus add meaningful length.

WTG! I am at a little over 28,000, but plan on hitting 30,000 today if not more. I don't have a title for my novel yet, but hope to figure out one soon. Good luck!
